A rotor of a rotating electrical machine has: an annular member (21) which rotates about a rotation axis; a plurality of pedestals (23) which extend in the axial direction and which are fixed to the outer circumferential surface of the annular member (21) so as to form gaps between each other along the circumferential direction, a first groove (24) extending in the axial direction and opening on the outside in the radial direction and outside in the axial direction being formed on the radially outside surface (23a) of each of the pedestals (23); and a permanent magnet (25) fixed to the outside, in the radial direction, of each of the pedestals (23), a second groove (26) being formed on the radially inside surface (25a), in contact with the pedestal (23), of the permanent magnet. The rotor of the rotating electrical machine can thereby be efficiently cooled.
