<p>The present invention relates to a pressure layer system (10) and apparatus therefor for maintaining a substantial pressure difference between an internal environment A and an external environment B. The system (10) comprises one or more pressure layers (12) spaced between the internal and external environments A,B with each pressure layer (12) arranged to receive and contain a fluid at a respective pressure level, each pressure layer (12) providing a discrete pressure level between the internal environment A and the external environment B. The present invention further comprises a pressure apparatus (50) and a valve apparatus (100). The pressure apparatus (50) arranged to contain the internal environment A and a plurality of pressure cells (14) disposed between the internal environment A and the external environment B. Each pressure cell (14) communicating with a valve apparatus (100) capable of moving from a first open position for allowing a flow of fluid between pressure cells (14) to a second closed position. In use, each pressure cell (14) is arranged to contain a respective pressure level thereby providing a series of incremental and discrete pressure layers between the internal environment A and the external environment B.</p> |
