The present invention provides: a prophylactic or therapeutic agent for diabetes, which comprises an Nrf2 activator; and a method for screening for a prophylactic or therapeutic agent for diabetes, in which an Nrf2-activating activity is employed as a measure. Thus, a prophylactic or therapeutic agent for diabetes is provided, which has a novel mechanism of action.
