A granular polyarylene sulfide such that: (i) the granular polyarylene sulfide has an -S- substituent at the end, said substituent being formed by cleavage of a disulfide compound; (ii) the granular polyarylene sulfide is an oversize fraction obtained by screening with a screen having an opening of 38mum or more; (iii) the granular polyarylene sulfide has a halogen content of 1,500ppm or less; and (iv) the granular polyarylene sulfide exhibits a melt viscosity of 3 to 100Pa·s as determined under the conditions of 310°C and a shear rate of 1,200sec-1. The granular polyarylene sulfide is well balanced among melt viscosity, halogen content, nitrogen content, thermal stability and yield. |
