PURPOSE: A positive electrode for a lithium ion secondary battery is provided to prevent the interfacial contact of an electrolyte, to prevent the side-reaction between a positive electrode active material and the electrolyte and to remarkably improve the lifetime of a battery at high temperatures. CONSTITUTION: A positive electrode for a lithium ion secondary battery includes a positive electrode current collector, a positive electrode active material layer capable of intercalating and deintercalating lithium ions, and a lithium ion conducting layer in order. The lithium ion conducting layer includes one or more selected from sulfide, oxide, and phosphoric chloride. The lithium ion conducting layer is a polymer layer containing lithium salt solvated in poly(ethylene oxide). The thickness of the lithium ion conducting layer is 100 nm to 1 micron. A lithium ion secondary battery includes a positive electrode, an electrolyte, and a negative electrode.
