PURPOSE: An authentication server using a sound code and an authentication method thereof are provided to ensure safety from keyboard hooking by removing the necessity for inputting an ID and a password. CONSTITUTION: An authentication server (100) includes an authentication key generator (110), an authentication key transmitter (120), an authentication confirm key receiver (130), an approving unit (140), and an approval processor (150). The authentication key generator generates an authentication key having a sound form. The authentication key transmitter transmits the generated authentication key to a service providing server. The authentication confirm key receiver receives an authentication confirm key from a terminal for authentication. The approving unit determines whether to approve authentication or not by determining whether the authentication confirm key corresponds to the authentication key or not. According to the determination result, the approval processor transmits authentication approval information to the service providing server.
