METHOD FOR PRODUCING HEMATITE FOR IRON MANUFACTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing hematite for iron manufacture recovering high-purity hematite that can be used as an iron-manufacturing raw material from a leaching residue containing iron oxide yielded from an HPAL process at a low cost and high efficiency.SOLUTION: A method for producing (high-purity) hematite for iron manufacture in a process of adding mineral acid and oxidizing agent to ore containing iron and valuable metal and leaching the valuable metal at a high temperature and high pressure includes: (1) a neutralization step of forming a leaching slurry by adding a neutralizer to a leaching solution obtained at the high temperature and high pressure; (2) a solid-liquid separation step of separating the leaching slurry obtained at the neutralization step (1) into a leaching residue and the leaching solution; and (3) a classification step of classifying the solid-liquid separated leaching residue to separate it into hematite and a gangue component.
