PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially advantageous production method of a polymer compound which is free from a water-soluble acid and has a proton-conducting group.SOLUTION: A method for producing a polymer compound having a proton-conducting group includes: a reaction step of introducing the proton-conducting group to a polymer compound having no proton-conducting group; a precipitation step of precipitating a solid content by adding water after the reaction step; and a cleaning step of disposing the solid content and an ion exchange resin through a water permeable diaphragm to bring the solid content into contact therewith through water.
