PURPOSE: A multi-level inverter with a DC link switch and an operating method of the same are provided to show multi-level output voltage based on a cell by reducing the number of devices. CONSTITUTION: A multi-level inverter comprises a voltage link part(200) comprising several sub voltage link parts which are connected to several voltage sources to separate the certain voltage source into several voltages, a switching part(210) which generates multi-level voltage based on a switching element, electrically connected to the sub switching part, comprises the sub switching part consisting of several switching elements which are connected to center node, and an inverter part(220) which generates and changes the polarity of multi-level voltage when the switching element of the first group and the second group are operated. The inverter group comprises the switching element of the first and second groups which are connected to the both output ends of the switching part.
