PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of these publicly known fuel pumps for a direct injection engine, wherein water hammer action occurs when opening-closing a check valve of a pump outlet.SOLUTION: A toothed driven gear 44 and an idler gear 46 being a fuel pump are rotatably installed in a pump chamber 38 so as to mutually mesh in a predetermined position in the pump chamber. A fluid inlet is formed in a housing, and is opened to an inlet sub-chamber 52 in the pump chamber. A fluid outlet is also formed in the housing, and is opened to an outlet sub-chamber 56 in the pump chamber. A pressure releasing passage 60 fluidly connects the inlet sub-chamber to the outlet sub-chamber, and a valve 62 is arranged in series to the pressure releasing passage. A control circuit controls operation of a valve for controlling pump pressure in the pump outlet. |
