PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable suppressing a residual image caused by a history of the previous cycle.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 200 includes: an electrophotographic photoreceptor 7 having a conductive support member, an undercoat layer disposed on the conductive support member and containing a conductive metallic oxide and electron-receptive material, and a photosensitive layer disposed on the undercoat layer; charging-means 208 for charging the surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor; exposure means 210 for forming an electrostatic latent image by exposing the charged surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor; development means 211 for housing a developer containing toner and forming a toner image by developing the electrostatic latent image with the developer; transfer means 212 for transferring the toner image formed on the surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor onto a recording medium 500. Further, the entire surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor is exposed by the exposure means before charging the surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor by the charging-means when restarting image-forming after it has been temporarily stopped.
