PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of accurately correcting gradation without spending time for processing even if an intermediate transfer belt has a creep.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus detects density of the surface of an image carrier to specify a position of noise caused by an abnormal shape on the image carrier, and changes a pattern for a first gradation correction on the basis of the noise position so that an area having a high gradation value is arranged at the noise position to form a pattern for a second gradation correction on the image carrier.
