PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming apparatus having a reflective optical sensor capable of keeping the light emission amount of a light emitting part constant.SOLUTION: There is provided an image forming apparatus which comprises: an image carrier; a charging device for charging the image carrier; an exposure device for forming a latent image on the image carrier; a developing device for forming a toner image by attaching toner to the latent image; a transfer device for transferring the toner image to a medium; a test pattern generating device for forming a test pattern on the image carrier or the medium; a reflective optical sensor for detecting the toner density or position of the test pattern; and an image process control device for determining an image process condition based on the detection result of the reflective optical sensor. The reflective optical sensor comprises: an irradiation system having at least 3 light receiving parts; and a light receiving system having at least 3 light receiving parts, each of the light emitting parts and each of light receiving parts has a corresponding lens, and a light emission amount of the light emitting parts is determined from the detection result of reflected light from the corresponding lens when one of the light emitting parts is made to emit light. |
