The garment is provided with a pair of main straps which extend over opposite shoulders of a person wearing the garment. Two encircling straps extend horizontally around the person's torso and are securely attached to it. A pair of vertical straps each connected to a separate main strap have fasteners for attachment to a load. A pair of lateral straps are attached to opposite sides of the garment and they too have fasteners for attachment to the load The weight of the load bears on the shoulders of the person wearing the garment and not against his neck.
