PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a hybrid vehicle having a small, lightweight, and inexpensive second driving power source capable of using kinetic energy possessed by the vehicle for the traveling of the vehicle efficiently as much as possible.SOLUTION: A hybrid vehicle includes a first driving power source and a second driving power source. The first driving power source performs general driving of the vehicle mainly comprising acceleration travel and constant speed travel driving for the vehicle. The second driving power source is a regenerative braking device using, as a component thereof, an energy storage device having high regeneration efficiency and small capacity, recovers and stores kinetic energy possessed by the vehicle by means of regenerative braking during deceleration travel from a constant speed, and turning the recovered and stored energy into some of start/acceleration travel driving energy upon start/acceleration travel following the deceleration travel, on condition that, upon starting the deceleration travel, surplus kinetic energy in the energy recovery/storage by the regenerative braking travel is consumed by inertia travel before the regenerative braking travel. |
