PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine and embroidery equipment allowing a user to easily set a position on a processing fabric to be sewn.SOLUTION: A sewing machine 1 comprises an ultrasonic wave pen 91 transmitting an ultrasonic wave, and receivers 94 and 95 receiving the ultrasonic wave. The receiver 94 is provided in a left lower end of a head 14, and the receiver 95 is provided in a right lower end of the head 14. A user contacts a pen tip 911 of the ultrasonic pen 91 onto the processing fabric placed on a bed portion 11. The ultrasonic wave is transmitted from the ultrasonic wave pen 91. The sewing machine 1 acquires transmission timing at which the ultrasonic wave has been transmitted from the ultrasonic wave pen 91. The sewing machine 1 acquires detection timing at which the ultrasonic wave has been detected through the receivers 94 and 95. The sewing machine 1 specifies a position of a transmission source of the ultrasonic wave on the basis of the transmission timing and the detection timing. The sewing machine 1 executes the sewing on the basis of the specified position.
