摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of a hybrid vehicle that surely prevents or can control occurrence of a shock at engine startup in an EV travel and a sense of incompatibility.SOLUTION: A first threshold α, and a second threshold &bgr; that is a lower value than the first threshold α are set as the thresholds to determine necessity to start an internal combustion engine to an SOC (State Of Charge) of the battery. A control device of a hybrid vehicle is provided with: a decrease means (steps S2, S3, S4, and S5) that decreases the actual driving power to a decrease target value &egr;, when the SOC is between the first threshold α and the second threshold &bgr; during EV traveling, and when the required drive power becomes lower than a prescribed value δ set as a threshold to determine starting of the internal combustion engine, and decreases at once the actual driving power to the decrease target value &egr;, when the SOC is lower than the second threshold &bgr;; and a starting means (step S6) that raised the engine speed of the internal combustion engine by the output of a first electric motor after decreasing the actual driving power to the decrease target value &egr; by the decrease means.
