PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate a wrong discrimination of a structure included in an image.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus comprises a filtering section 32 which calculates Hessian matrices by applying filtering using two-stage partial differentiation of a solid sphere function, and an evaluation section 30 which discriminates a structure included in the image by using sn intrinsic value and an intrinsic vector of the Hessian matrices. The filtering section 32 includes a correction section 33 which calculates a one-stage partial differentiation vector by applying filtering using one-stage partial differentiation of the solid sphere function having the same radius as that of a solid sphere to the image and uses a value obtained by projecting the one-stage partial differentiation vector in a direction of the intrinsic vector to perform correction of canceling one response waveform between response waveforms appearing in two positions symmetrically separated from the center of the solid sphere, in the two-stage partial differentiation in directions of a function representing the solid sphere. |
