PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic passenger sensor device capable of discriminating a type of a passenger even if the passenger undergoes a posture change, such as sitting in an off-centered posture.SOLUTION: An electrostatic passenger sensor device includes a sensor body unit 1 placed in a seating face portion 911 of a vehicle seat 9, and a passenger detection ECU 2 which detects a passenger on the seat 9 on the basis of values of electrostatic capacitance between the sensor body unit 1 and a vehicle body 3. The sensor body unit 1 is divided into a plurality of units either in the traveling direction of the vehicle or the width direction thereof or both, and includes at least a first sensor unit 101 and a second sensor unit 102. The passenger detection ECU 2 detects a passenger on the basis of a first electrostatic capacitance value C_1 generated by the first sensor unit 101, a second electrostatic capacitance value C_2 generated by the second sensor unit 102, and a total electrostatic capacitance value C_t which is a sum of the first electrostatic capacitance value C_1 and the second electrostatic capacitance value C_2. |
