The present invention relates to a process for producing a cooled ring carrier (1) for an aluminium piston (2) of an internal combustion engine to be produced by a casting process, having a recess (4) forming a later cooling duct (3), characterized by the following process steps: a.) the recess (4) is inwardly open and is filled with granulated salt, b.) the ring carrier (1) is made to rotate, as a result of which the granulated salt solidifies, on account of the centrifugal force acting thereon, to form a salt core (5) forming the cooling duct (3), c.) the ring carrier (1) together with the solidified salt core (5) is heated to a temperature of approximately 200-250°C, d.) the ring carrier (1) together with the solidified salt core (5) is immersed into an alfin bath (10) consisting of molten aluminium. This makes it possible to produce a cost-effective and high-quality aluminium piston (2). |
