PURPOSE: A semiconductor light emitting device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to simplify a wavelength converter manufacturing process and to effectively improve color dispersion. CONSTITUTION: A top mold part (11) is arranged on a substrate (21) on which a semiconductor light emitting device (25) is mounted. A resin including a wavelength conversion material is arranged in a cavity which is formed on a first bottom mold part (31). The semiconductor light emitting device moves to the cavity for forming a wavelength converter. The wavelength converter surrounding the semiconductor light emitting device is formed by hardening the resin including the wavelength conversion material. A resin packing part is formed with a compression forming process using the cavity for forming the resin packing part on the second bottom mold part.
