A hairpiece (1) for a horse that is arranged to be mounted onto the horse in the region of the horse's mane and to lie over at least a portion thereof. The hairpiece (1) includes an arrangement of plaits (9) and attachment means (3) for releaseably attaching the hairpiece (1) to the horse. A method for attaching the hairpiece (1) to the horse is also disclosed.
