Claims specify a network with powerline and other links wherein the nodes determine a preferred path for traffic. The embodiments disclose networks including multiple nodes 108A-E connected by powerline links 500A-G and some other links 502A-C (Wi-Fi) and 504A (BlueTooth). The invention assesses connection strength by aggregating scores in various metrics including available OFDM channels, throughput raw/ethernet, error messages, bandwidth, hop limits, VLAN processing. The invention also calculates socket utilisation from % utilisation of powerline/network/node processor and congestion notifications. These values are shared amongst the nodes which feed them in to route finding rules to determine the preferred path through the network. The paths may be established using VPLS (virtual private LAN service). |
