PURPOSE: A multimedia file transmission apparatus is provided to reduce decoding time or transmission time by transmitting a file which is reprocessed in accordance with characteristics of a playback device when a source device replays the multimedia file in the playback device through a data relay device. CONSTITUTION: A specification identification module (120) identifies display specifications of a playback device (300). A file loading module (130) loads a multimedia file from storage. A reprocessing module (140) reprocesses the multimedia file in accordance with the identified specifications of the playback device. An encoding module (150) encodes and compresses the reprocessed file in accordance with the specifications. A packetizing module (160) packetizes the encoded data, and transfers the packetized data to a data relay device (200) through a WiFi communication network.
