A threshold seal 4 with a casing 2, seal carrier 3 and an actuating mechanism, which has an actuation member 36 which moves relative to the casing to extend and retract the seal carrier. The actuation member is controlled by an adjustable button 37 which protrudes from the casing and has a plurality of visual indicators (37, fig 6) that may be colour coded. In further aspects of the invention, an actuation element 33 is pivotally connected to a seal carrier which is connected to a stabilising element 34, such as a leaf spring; or there is a U-shaped casing with one thicker wall; or a wiper element (32, fig 5c) in slideable contact with the casing; or an actuation cable (50, fig 11c); or a casing with a projecting portions (11, 12, fig 5a); or seal with an A-shaped profile; or an actuator element with a recess (33, fig 6) to act as an end stop when the seal is retracted; or an actuator element with wheels or bosses 35b running on tracks within the casing. |
