PURPOSE: Power control electronic device and power control method are provided to perform voice recognition by turning on power by detecting voice input of a user. CONSTITUTION: A voice input unit (110) receives audio. A voice detection unit (121) detects whether a voice of a user is inputted through the voice input unit in a standby mode state of an electronic device. The voice detection unit outputs a power control signal when voice input of the user is detected. A power control voice recognition unit (122) turns on the power. The power control voice recognition unit performs voice recognition for the voice of the user.
