PURPOSE: A soft capsule coating composition containing starch as a main ingredient is provided to show optimal physical properties as a material of a soft capsule and to minimize the content of iota carrageenan, thereby manufacturing effective starch-based soft capsules. CONSTITUTION: A soft capsule coating composition contains: 18-25 wt% of a starch mixture containing hydroxypropyl tapioca starch, potato crosslinked starch, and hydroxypropyl corn starch in a ratio of 1:0.1-0.5:0.1-0.3; 3-6 wt% of iota carrageenan as a gelling agent; 5-20 wt% of a plasticizing agent; 0.01-3 wt% of a buffer; 0.01-2 wt% of a disintegrant aid, 0.01-1 wt% of an antioxidant; and 45-60 wt% of purified water. The content of iota carrageenan is 3.5-5.5 wt%. |
