PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pedicle screw which has a closure device easy to operate for securing a rod for stabilization of a vertebral column and can achieve desirable and optimal tension even in using any type of rod. SOLUTION: A pedicle screw 1 with a closure device 13 includes a screw-in part 2, a head part 3 and a recess 4 disposed in the head part 3. The recess 4 is formed by inner surfaces 5 and 6 of two arms 7 and 8 as well as the bottom surface 9, in which recess 4 a rod is insertable and held by the closure device 13. The closure device 13 includes a yoke-shaped locking element 15 having a collar 20 having projections 21 opposite each other. A groove 12 is provided on the two arms 7 and 8 on the outside so that the projections 21 are inserted in the groove 12, in which the locking element 15 is placeable on the arms 7 and 8 and rotatable. A tension screw 16 is screwable into the locking element 15 and is connected to a tension element 14, which is insertable between the arms 7 and 8, and, in the locking element 15, is able to be tensioned by means of the tension screw 16 against a rod 33 inserted in the recess 4.
