PURPOSE:To enable appropriate printing to be performed irrespective of the type of a cut sheet feeder, by supplying a printing-controlling part with identification information indicating the type of the cut sheet feeder mounted on a serial printer. CONSTITUTION:A printer equipped with a cut sheet feeder 3 is provided with an identification information generating means for starting printing at an appropriate printing starting position on a cut sheet and a printing position controlling means 5 for generating printing offset data in response to identification information. By the functions of the means 4, 5, the printing offset data are supplied to a printing-controlling circuit 1 of the printer. The circuit 1 causes a printing part 2 to start printing at an appropriate printing starting position on the cut sheet supplied by the cut sheet feeder, irrespective of the type of the cut sheet feeder. Accordingly, it is unnecessary for the operator to operate while taking account of the cut sheet feeder. |
