PURPOSE: A production method of a spherical shape ferric oxide additive is provided to easily obtain ferric oxide for casting by drying, sieving and heat-processing scarfing dust. CONSTITUTION: A production method of a spherical shape ferric oxide additive for casting uses dust generated from a scarfing process in a steel manufacture process as a byproduct. A production method of spherical shape ferric oxide for casting comprises a step of distributing a scarfing dust material into three classes by drying, sieving, and pre-heating or by secondly heating the processed material. The drying step is conducted at a temperature lower than 200°C, and the preheating step is conducted at 450-600°C. The composition of the scarfing dust material is 73-76% of iron oxide, 0.001-0.18% of carbon, 0.2-0.5% of silicon, 0.1-1.6% of manganese, 0.001-0.015% of sulfur, 0.006-0.02% of phosphorus, 0.015-0.045% of molten aluminum, and 0.005-0.02% of niobium.
