A structure for an electrochemical device, and an electrochemical device containing the structure are provided to enhance the safety of an electrochemical device using the structure in case of abnormal high temperature or overcharge by eluting an ionic salt contained in the empty space of the structure by melting the some part of the structure. A structure for an electrochemical device comprises a hollow pipe(10); a first member(20) which comprises a polymer and seals the one end of the hollow pipe; and a second member(30) which comprises a polymer or a metal and seals the other end of the hollow pipe, wherein an ionic salt is contained in the empty space. Preferably the first member or both of the first member and the second member are molten at a temperature higher than the normal operation temperature of a device using the structure, or a voltage more of 4.3 V. Preferably the ionic salt is at least one selected from the group consisting of Al2(SO4)3, Ca(OH)2, Mg(NO3)2, PbI2, NaCl, MgCl2 and Al2(OH)3. |
