PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bone-strengthening agent which has an activity of promoting proliferation of osteoblasts and inhibiting differentiation of osteoclasts and bone resorption by osteoclasts and is useful for the prevention or treatment of various bone diseases such as osteoporosis, bone fracture, rheumatism, arthritis or the like, and also to provide bone strengthening products such as food, beverage, feed and medicine or the like containing the bone strengthening agent.SOLUTION: A bone-strengthening agent includes a whey protein hydrolysate as an active ingredient. Particularly, when the whey protein hydrolysate has such characteristics that the main peak appears within the range of from 200 Da to 3 kDa in a molecular weight distribution of 10 kDa or less, the APL (average peptide chain length) is 2-8, the free amino acid content is 20% or less, and the antigenicity is 1/10,000 or less of that of &bgr;-lactoglobulin, so that the bone-strengthening agent can have low allergenicity and less bitterness. |
