In at least one embodiment, the surface light source (1) comprises one or a plurality of optoelectronic semiconductor chips (2) having a radiation main side (20) for generating a primary radiation (P). A scattering body (3) is disposed downstream of the radiation main side (20) along a main emission direction (x) of the semiconductor chips (2). The scatting body (3) is designed for scattering the primary radiation (P). A main emission direction (y) of the scattering body (3) is oriented obliquely with respect to the main emission direction (x) of the semiconductor chip (2).
