PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of executing processing for correcting distortion of a projection image on a projection surface in a shorter period of time, and further to provide a control method therefor.SOLUTION: A projector 100 comprises: a projection section 101 that has a projection optical system 150 and projects an image on a screen SC; a lens driving section 154 for performing focus adjustment of the projection optical system 150; a trapezoidal distortion correction section 132 that performs distortion correction processing for correcting distortion of the image projected by the projection section 101; and a projection controller 121 that causes the distortion correction processing to be executed by the trapezoidal distortion correction section 132 during a period of time from satisfaction of start conditions of the distortion correction processing to satisfaction of completion conditions of the distortion correction processing and limits execution the focus adjustment by the lens driving section 154 while the projection controller 121 is causing the distortion correction processing to be executed by the trapezoidal distortion correction section 132. |
