An apparatus (301) is provided for mixing contents of a receptacle, the apparatus comprising a rotary shaft equipped at a proximal end (302) with a connection for removable attachment to a means of providing rotation. The rotary shaft has a mixing element fixedly connected at a distal end (303) of the shaft opposite to the proximal end. The mixing element has at least two arms (304), which may be retracted when in a resting position or extend radially outwardly when in an operative rotating position. The mixing element further comprises a corkscrew neck (cf. f.ex. 707) positioned above the at least two arms and a collar (cf. f.ex. 706) positioned above the at least two arms and beneath the corkscrew neck. Also disclosed is a method of manufacturing such an apparatus.
