PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve safe and rapid failure detection for a charging relay of a DC boosting charge system.SOLUTION: An energy storage system having an energy storage device for supplying electric power as a travel power source for a vehicle includes: a connection section connected with a charge cable of a DC power supply outside the vehicle; a first charge relay and a second charge relay, which are installed on respective charge lines for connecting the connection section with each of a positive terminal and a negative terminal of the energy storage device to permit connection between the connection section and the energy storage device; and a controller that performs first failure detection for detecting failure states of the first charge relay and the second charge relay with the charge cable connected with the connection section after completion of charging using the DC power supply and second failure detection for detecting failure states of the first charge relay and second charge relay during a vehicle travel. |
