PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ventilation layer forming member for the mortar external wall of a building which allows a ventilation layer to be surely formed in the wall of a building and eliminates the necessity for ventilation furring strips as separate members so as to save the material cost of the ventilation furring strips and construction labor with reduced work period and easy construction, a method for forming the same, and a method for forming a ventilation layer of the mortar external wall of a building.SOLUTION: A plurality of groove streak ribs extending in horizontal direction are arranged at an interval. A lath material having a mesh part and a waterproof sheet attached to one face of the lath material are arranged between the groove streak ribs. A plurality of ventilation furring strips formed of concave groove streaks in a direction approximately perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the groove streak ribs, with an approximately mountain shape projecting adjacent to the attached waterproof sheet, are arranged at an interval in the longitudinal direction of the groove streak ribs. The trough between the neighboring ventilation furring strips constitutes the space for a ventilation layer.
