An athlete training device (800) includes a platform (810) that includes a plurality of spaced apart attachment members (820) disposed adjacent to the periphery of the platform (810). A top plate (814) is affixed to the top of the pole (812) and includes attachment structures (822) disposed about the top plate (814). An attachment device (832) is coupled to one of the attachment structures (822). A redirecting device (834) is coupled to one of the attachment members (820). An elastic cord (830) is attached to the attachment device (832) and is engaged with the redirecting device (834) so that the cord (830) extends radially away from the pole (812). An exercise device (840) is affixed to the end of the cord (830).
