<p>The method involves determining a measured value, and determining a corresponding number of forecast values for a predetermined time interval by linear or non-linear regression. The measured value and the forecast values are transmitted to a data sink, where the measured value and the forecast values are transmitted at the time interval for duration of no further specific measurement values from a sensor node, and the forecast values do not differ more than a predetermined threshold value from each other.
