PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission apparatus and an optical transmission method which, even in occurrence of a transmission failure in one or more channels during data transmission of plural channels, transmit data including data of the channel in which the failure occurs.SOLUTION: An optical transmission apparatus 100 comprises: a transmission unit 101 which transmits input signals of plural channels as optical signals of the plural channels to an opposite reception unit 102 via transmission paths 150; and a controller 103 which, when detecting a transmission failure between the transmission unit 101 and the reception unit 102, divides data of the channel ch C where the transmission failure occurs in the transmission unit to normal channels ch A, B and D and raises the transmission rates of the normal channels to a predetermined transmission rate to continue data transmission of all the channels ch A to D including the failure channel. |
