PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable rotation of a fixing device even in a state of not being pressurized in a fixing device having a direct heating configuration.SOLUTION: A pressure solenoid 34 presses a pressure member 33, the pressure member 33 presses a bearing 32 of a pressure roller 31 and a fixing belt 21 and the pressure roller 31 form a nip part in a sheet passing state. The rotational power of the pressure roller 31 is delivered to the fixing belt 21 and drives the fixing belt 21 and heats and presses unfixed toner on a transfer material to fix the unfixed toner on the transfer material. When an abnormality is detected, the pressure solenoid 34 is turned off, the pressure member 33 is not pressed, the pressure to the bearing 32 is released and the pressure roller 31 becomes a non-contact state with the fixing belt. Although the fixing belt is not rotated according to the pressure release, the rotation of the fixing belt 21 is continued by driving a belt drive gear 28, thereby enabling prevention of the occurrence of overshoot in which the fixing belt 21 or the pressure roller 31 is damaged. |
