PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor having higher durability, an image forming method using the electrophotographic photoreceptor, a process cartridge for an image forming apparatus, and an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: An electrophotographic photoreceptor includes a photosensitive layer and a surface layer laminated in order on a conductive support. The surface layer contains a reactant of a material having two or more methylol group and a binder resin, and a filler; the binder resin is either one of a polycarbonate resin and a polyarylate resin; and the volume average particle diameter of the filler is 10 nm or more and 500 nm or less.
