A fuel cell (FC, FC2) includes a membrane electrode assembly(M), a frame (4) arranged on an outer periphery portion of the membrane electrode assembly (M), and a separator (5) defining a gas flow channel (G) between the separator (5) and the membrane electrode assembly (M) and between the separator (5) and the frame (4). A diffuser portion (D) which is a part of the gas flow channel (G), is formed between the separator (5) and the frame (4). An electrode layer (1) includes a metal porous body (23, 33) which is an electrode surface layer and has gas permeability. The metal porous body (23, 33) has at an end portion thereof, an extension part (23A, 33A) covering a region corresponding to the diffuser portion (D) of the frame (4). |
