Then, the X-Y image capture area is scanned so as to detect a range corresponding to the light source (L) as a light-source area (A), and a masking range that covers the light-source area (A) and the surroundings thereof is set. Since light entering the masking range is blocked in an image frame captured with this mask setting, the amount of incident light entering the entire X-Y image capture area in this mask setting is expected to change to a greater degree than normal, so exposure adjustment is carried out for the next image capture using average values of exposure parameters up to the last image capture.
