<p>A display system, comprising: an angular intensity distribution element 2, arranged to receive light from one or more sources of light and to effect an angular intensity distribution of the light. The angular intensity distribution element introduces an undesirable feature, such as a zero diffraction order, into a distribution of the light. The display system also includes one or more optical elements 10, 12 located downstream of the angular intensity distribution element, arranged to effect an angular and/or spatial intensity distribution of the light prior to display of the light to a user of the system; and a spatial filter 20, located downstream of the angular intensity distribution element. The spatial filter preferably includes a first region allowing unimpeded light transmission and a second region with lower transmittance; the filter receives the light and at least partially corrects for the undesirable feature. The system may be utilised as part of a visor in a helmet or head mounted display system.</p> |
