A resin sliding member 1 comprises a resin composition containing 0.5-25 vol.% crystalline calcium fluoride particles 5 dispersed in a synthetic resin 4. A peak intensity of a (111) plane of the calcium fluoride exposed on a sliding surface is larger than a peak intensity of a (220) plane when measured by X-ray diffraction at 2θ (Fig. 2). Preferably, the calcium fluoride has an average particle diameter of 1-20 microns. The synthetic resin may be polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), which may contain a solid lubricant, such as graphite or molybdenum disulphide or an inorganic filler. In a preferred embodiment, the sliding member comprises metal base layer composed of a steel back layer 2 and a porous metal layer 3, wherein the porous metal layer is impregnated and covered with the calcium fluoride-containing resin. The metal base layer may be formed into a cylindrical shape such that the resin composition is on an inside surface. |
