Automatic insertion of a contact bar in a foundry probe

The method involves fitting a bearing point of a support frame (1) with a metallurgical probe (3) such that an open end face (5) of the probe faces a predetermined insertion direction. An end (9) of a contact rod (10) is inserted into a contact rod centring device (8) in the insertion direction running transverse with respect to a probe longitudinal axis until the end of the rod is positioned based on the insertion into the contact rod centring device in a predetermined contact rod position. The rod is moved along a direction of the probe longitudinal axis and inserted into the probe. An independent claim is also included for a support frame.
