PURPOSE: An Ethernet mode switch method is provided to optimize performance of a TCP using a cross-layer technique and to maximize energy efficiency and transmission efficiency of an Ethernet link. CONSTITUTION: If transmission of a packet is completed in an activation mode, it queues for a specific waiting time(S510). If packets received for the waiting time is greater than the maximum number of reception, predicted packet reception to be received for the specific waiting time is calculated by using the received packets(S520). The amount of packets received for the specific waiting time and the calculated predicted packet reception are compared and a mode switch of Ethernet is performed according to the compared result(S560).
