PURPOSE: An endpoints detection apparatus for a sound source and a method thereof are provided to detect a sound source and find the endpoint of the sound source by determining the existence and the length of the sound source being input according to each direction, thereby improving the performance of post-processing. CONSTITUTION: A sound source position detecting unit (120) detects positions of a plurality of sound sources from the sound source signal received from a plurality of microphones. A sound source position change determination unit (140) determines a change in position of the sound source according to each direction by reading the positions of the plurality of sound sources. A sound source maintenance time calculating unit (150) calculates a sound source maintenance time of the sound source at a predetermined position by reading the positions of the plurality of sound sources. An endpoint determination unit (160) determines endpoints of the plurality of sound sources by use of the sound source maintenance time and the change in position of the sound source according to each direction.
