The filter (3) has a porous ceramic matrix defining channels. The matrix comprises two ceramic portions (A1, A2), where one of the ceramic portions having a non-melting or low exothermic function comprises lower melting temperature than that of the other ceramic portion. The latter ceramic portion is selected from silicon carbide or and silicon. The former ceramic portion is selected from cordierite or of aluminum titanate. The ceramic portions are directed parallel to a longitudinal axis of the filter and assembled with each other by a bonding unit (C). An independent claim is also included for a method for diagnosing operating condition of a particle filter of an exhaust line of a thermal engine of a vehicle.
